Bradley Cooper was born on Jan. 5, 1975, in Philadelphia.
He attended Georgetown University. After graduating with honors from the school’s English program in 1997, Cooper enrolled in the Masters of Fine Arts program at the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University in New York.
While in graduate school, Cooper’s thesis performance was of him playing “John Merrick” in “The Elephant Man.”
Cooper’s earliest TV roles came when he was in school. He played in “Sex and the City” in 1998 and “The Beat” in 2000.
While attending graduate school, Cooper worked with inner-city kids on the weekends to help teach them acting skills.
In 2001, Cooper moved from New York to Los Angeles when he was cast in the television series “Alias.” He also played in “Jack and Bobby” and “Touching Evil.”
In 2005, Cooper accepted a role on another TV series, “Kitchen Confidential.”
Cooper landed a role in one of his first big films in 2005 when he played Sack Lodge in “Wedding Crashers.” He then starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in “Failure To Launch” in 2006.
He played in “The Comebacks,” “Older Than America” and “The Rocker” in 2007 before landing a role in “The Midnight Meat Train” in 2008.
In 2008, Cooper starred alongside Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel in “Yes Man.”
He joined an all-star cast in 2009’s “He’s Just Not That Into You.”
Cooper’s biggest break may have come when he landed the role of Phil in the blockbuster hit, “The Hangover.”
Following “The Hangover,” Cooper joined Renee Zellweger in “Case 39.”
In 2010 he joined a star-studded cast in “Valentine’s Day.”
In 2012, Cooper starred in the blockbuster sequel “The Hangover II.”
In 2012, Cooper played a writer who stole another man’s work in “The Words.”
Perhaps the biggest role of Cooper’s career came in “Silver Linings Playbook” in 2012.
His role of Pat earned him numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
He also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his role in "Silver Linings Playbook," but lost out to Daniel Day-Lewis for "Lincoln."
