2 drown in Stillwater River in separate incidents
The Stillwater County Sheriff's office says a 1-year-old girl and a 41-year-old man drowned in separate incidents Friday in the Stillwater River in south-central Montana.
Sheriff Clifford Brophy says both victims are from Billings.
He says the girl was with her brother and parents when she was swept away at about 2:20 p.m. Two teenagers found the girl, but resuscitation efforts by emergency responders failed.
Brophy says the man fell out of a raft about 3 p.m. and rescue attempts by two adult males with him failed. The man was pulled from the water but resuscitation attempts by emergency responders were unsuccessful.
