Laurel Staples

Laurel Staples is a member of NBC Montana's news anchor team. She is originally from Polson. She received her degree in radio-television from the University of Montana in 1988 with a minor in dance/drama.

Staples joined NBC Montana in October 2012 as co-anchor for NBC Montana Today. She previously served as a news anchor, producer and reporter for the CBS affiliate station in Butte. She has also worked at stations in Helena and Missoula.

Staples is the winner of the 2010 E.B. Craney Television Broadcaster of the Year award. She was part of a news team that received the 2009 E.B Craney award for Program of the Year for coverage of the Mansfield-Metcalf Dinner in Butte that featured then-presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. She also received the 2008 E.B Craney award runner-up for Program of the Year for Face the State - Evel Knievel.

She is a member of the Missoula Kiwanis Club and serves as a volunteer for the Montana Folk Festival in Butte.

Laurel has three children ages 12, 16 and 20.

Her hobbies and interests include photography, Tango and other forms of social dancing, theater, Flathead Lake and spending time with family.
