Lauren Maschmedt is the anchor of KTVM's News at 6 and 10. She started at NBC Montana as a reporter in Butte and Bozeman.
Though Lauren is a born-and-raised western Washingtonian, she might as well be a Montana native -- her fiance is a police officer in Helena and her family has vacation property in Whitefish -- not to mention she's traveled all around the beautiful Big Sky Country.
Purple and gold are Lauren's favorite colors, which might have something to do with her being a Washington Husky. Lauren is proud of her degree in Communication from UW, even if she can't always be proud of the sports teams.
While in school, Lauren was a video journalist for Palestra.net, and had a blast covering Husky football from the sidelines. She was right there during their winless season in 2008, but also covered their key 2009 games -- including the infamous upset over USC that ended in rushing the field. During her senior year, Lauren also interned in the production department of Seattle's PBS station, KCTS 9, and got her first taste of what it's like to produce for TV.
After college, Lauren briefly worked in Lafayette, LA, as an assistant producer at a TV production company. She had a great time learning all about the Cajun culture and food, but not about the cockroaches and humidity.
Outside of work, Lauren loves to go camping and explore new places. She's excited to be working at NBC Montana and can't wait to discover more of what Montana has to offer!
