The anti-bullying work of two Missoula teens caught the eye of an international pop queen. 16-year-old Ekoo Beck and 19-year-old Tyler Tschida were featured speakers Wednesday at the official launch of Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation.
They were two of only 100 teenagers around the country to receive personal invitations to the anti-bullying event, and only six other teens were invited to speak.
Beck and Tschida say the message Lady Gaga is pushing is about self empowerment. She calls it S.S.O.
"The first S is safety, to give youth a safe place to be who they are,? explain Beck and Tschida. ?The second is skills, to give them the skills to be able to lead and change the world, and then, the opportunity to do so."
Both teens are a part of Missoula?s National Coalition Building Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to moving individuals, organizations and communities toward a more just and inclusive society.
