Daines says he will oppose action in Syria
U.S. Rep. Steve Daines says he will be opposing potential military action in Syria.
The Republican held a statewide conference call Monday night to discuss the Obama administration's call for military action in Syria , blamed for a deadly chemical weapons attack last month.
The Obama administration has been lobbying lawmakers to support a plan for a retaliatory military strike.
Daines' said during the hour-long call that he wasn't convinced that national security is at risk in a complex situation.
Most callers who spoke opposed involvement.
The freshman congressman said he believes most in the state oppose military action, so he will vote against it if the issue reaches the House floor.
U.S. Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester have not yet indicated how they might vote.
