3 taken to hospital after ambulance hits car
Three people were injured when their car collided with an ambulance in downtown Helena.
The police say the ambulance was responding to a call and had no patients when the crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday near the City-County Building.
Witness Luke Vance told the Independent Record he heard the sirens of the northbound ambulance and saw it hit the car as the car turned right onto the same street. The car spun around and hit a light pole.
Vance says a front seat passenger was able to get out of the car and he helped a child who was injured. The driver was taken away on a stretcher.
Officials did not release the conditions of the car's occupants.
Assistant Police Chief Steve Hagen says the ambulance sustained minor front end damage.
