Interstate 15 has been closed between Shelby and the Ledger Road exit in Pondera County, according to the Toole County Sheriff’s Office.
NBC Montana learned the Toole County Sheriff’s office got a call this morning at 10:55 a.m. because of a possible “homemade improvised explosive device” located near the interstate. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate, as well as the frontage road, have been closed.
The Malmstrom Air Force Explosive Ordinance Device unit is responding to evaluate the situation, according to a TCSO release.
Montana Department of Transportation spokeswoman Lori Ryan said MDT was contacted by local law enforcement requesting help in shutting down that section of interstate.
