KALISPELL, Mont. -

A 50-year-old Kalispell man is behind bars for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man multiple times Tuesday night.

According to officers, dispatchers received a 911 call of a 25-year old man with multiple stab wounds. The man had knocked on the door of a home on Barron Way in Kalispell, and told occupants that he had been beaten and stabbed.

According to the Kalispell Police, the victim told residents his assailant took his car after the stabbing. He was brought to KRMC for his injuries, and is listed in stable condition.

A half hour after the initial call came through, an MHP trooper stopped a vehicle near the Midway Mini Mart on Highway 93, south of Whitefish. Kalispell resident William Irvin Smith Jr. was arrested, and put behind bars on a pending charge of Felony Assault with a Weapon. Officers say he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
