Murder charge dropped against Lincoln County man
MISSOULA, Mont. -

University of Montana campus officers tell NBC Montana they pulled an apparently intoxicated man from an irrigation canal off of the Clark Fork River, near the University of Montana and Bark Park at around 4:00 on Wednesday. Officers tell NBC Montana the call initially came in with reports of someone trying to flag down traffic on Campus Drive, on the north side of the Washington Grizzly Stadium, saying that someone was in the water.

Officers retrieved a rope, but the man was reportedly unable to grab the rope and his head went under water. Officers say they jumped in and pulled him out, but that the man was combative, so additional officers from the Missoula Police Department were called in.

The man was transported to a hospital, and officers tell NBC Montana he apparently did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
