We're still getting details, but here is what we know. We spoke with Flathead County Undersheriff Dave Lieb just after 8:30 a.m. Friday. He says 39-year-old Robert Barnet apparently asked a man for money outside the Pin and Cute Bowling Alley in Whitefish Thursday night. That conversation led the man to offer to buy Barnet breakfast this morning, and he gave him his address.
The undersheriff says the man woke up and realized Barnet was the man wanted in the news reports. He went to call 911 and saw Barnet's car outside his house.
The Flathead County sheriff's office arrested Barnet and have Alvin Barnet safe in their custody.
We have a reporter on the scene. Stay tuned to NBC Montana for the latest updates on this developing story throughout the day.
