BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Folks with American Medical Response hope to make the holidays a little more joyful for patients in hospice care and nursing homes.

That's why they're offering to transport such patients home for free where they can enjoy a meal in the company of their loved ones.

Folks with AMR say they believe Home for the Holidays is healing for patients and their families.

They say it's part of their overall emphasis on patient care.

"It's a great way for American Medical Response to show that we are more than just a 911 service, we are here for the community.  We want to have the people take advantage of this service," says AMR Bozeman supervisor Kevin Lauer.

Last year they only had one taker but AMR folks say they're expanding this year.

They're bringing in a special crew and will be able to transport six patients.

So far only two have signed up.

It's a round-trip service and will also be offered on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
