Anaconda man robbed at gunpoint in home

ANACONDA, Mont. -

Anaconda police are searching for a man this evening who is a suspect in an armed robbery.

41-year-old William Schmidt reportedly entered an Anaconda residence late this afternoon, and forced the man who was inside into his own basement.

The suspect then allegedly stole a 9mm handgun, some coins and $1,000 in cash, before taking off in the victim's 1999 silver GMC Sierra with the license plate 302948A.

Schmidt is described as 6-feet-tall and 270 pounds.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grayish plaid hoodie, baseball cap and white tennis shoes.

Anaconda police urge anyone with information to call the police station at 563-5242.
