Authorities find Bozeman DJ charged with rape
Gallatin County authorities have located a rape suspect, already in custody in Missoula.
A judge issued an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Jared Robert Kuntz, a Helena man who sometimes works as a disc jockey in Bozeman.
Kuntz has been in the Missoula County Jail since January 17, on charges of violating his probation. He was arrested on accusations of burglary and criminal mischief.
Bond is set at $100,000.
Kuntz now also faces charges of felony sexual intercourse without consent and unlawful transactions with children, a misdemeanor.
According to court documents, an 18-year-old inmate at the Gallatin County Detention Center reported she was raped on December 29, 2012.
Documents indicate she told police she went to the movies with Kuntz and the two drank alcohol in his vehicle in the parking lot before going in to watch the film.
She tells detectives she and Kuntz left the theater early and, from there, went to a drive-thru to get food. The woman says she couldn't remember what took place during the next several hours but says she opened her eyes, at some point, and saw Kuntz on top of her.
Charging documents indicate the woman woke up later that evening and thought she had been sexually assaulted.
Records indicate, when questioned by police, Kuntz asked to speak with an attorney.
Sexual intercourse without consent carries a maximum of life in jail.
