MISSOULA, Mont. -

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Christian Downward has joined the task force in charge of coordinating military support for the ceremonies during the inaugural period in and around the District of Columbia.

Downward is a native of Bigfork.

Historically, as many as 5,000 service members have participated in the celebration, both in view of the public and behind the scenes.

Downward says it is an honor that he is looking forward to. "I'm excited because this is an opportunity to support the President of the United States and the American people," said Downward. "As a member of the Department of Defense, that is what we do."

The 57th Presidential Inauguration will take place in Washington, DC, January 21st.
