Missing Anaconda Woman Tammy Salle
MISSOULA, Mont. -

The Missoula County Sheriff's Department has confirmed a body found in a car west of town is the boyfriend of a missing Anaconda woman.

Public Information Officer Jason Johnson told NBC Montana that 38-year-old John Goldberg was found dead, in his vehicle at the Crossroads truck stop Saturday evening. Johnson said Goldberg died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and left a three page suicide note. That note did not provide information about Tammy Salle's disappearance.

Investigators call Salle's disappearance suspicious. Authorities questioned Goldberg, who mentioned that the two had gotten into an argument, and Salle had left in his car afterwards.

Anaconda Police wanted to question Goldberg again, but couldn't find him. They are still investigating Salle's disappearance.

NBC Montana will keep you updated.

UPDATE: Anaconda Police Chief Tim Barkell says police went through a trash receptacle used by Goldberg and found bloodied towels and what appeared to be pieces of human tissue. He says the items are being sent to the state crime lab.

Police say Salle and Goldberg lived together in Anaconda.
