BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Nonstop flights to the East Coast are coming back to Bozeman. These flights are scheduled for the summer season and airport officials said they expect to be busy.

"This coming summer United Airlines will be expanding its service to New York's Newark Airport with Saturday and Sunday service this year," said Airport Director Brian Sprenger.

Sprenger explained he is always educating airlines about opportunities Bozeman's airport can provide and how he wants to see new airlines fly into Bozeman.

"Anytime we are working with the airlines we try to bring to them the market that we have," said Sprenger.

Sprenger said they are adding flights to make it easier for passengers to get to their destinations faster. "Nonstop service to any destination means that it makes it more convenient too. Less stops, less connections certainly allows for a quicker flight, but of course sometimes there's a drive involved," he said.

NBC Montana caught up with a passenger just getting off his flight. JD Hale is from Boston and says these nonstop flights are a good way to get more people visiting Montana.

"I think it will attract more people who really enjoy the mountains out here in Montana," said Hale.

Amy McDonald, the general manager of the Baxter Hotel, said having these flights during the summer will be great for business. "I think that it gives people more options definitely want to attract people here without stopping over Utah and Denver," said McDonald.

Sprenger said the convenience of traveling from one destination to another without stopping will be a big hit this year.
