HELENA, Mont. -

Gov.-elect Steve Bullock is dropping his lawsuit against former U.S. Rep. Rick Hill over a $500,000 contribution Hill received during the governor's race.

But Bullock campaign manager Kevin O'Brien says he will still pursue his complaint over the contribution filed with the state commissioner of political practices.

Lawyers for Bullock and Hill sent District Judge Kathy Seeley notice Thursday the urgent circumstances leading to the lawsuit no longer exist with the Nov. 6 election over.

Bullock received 49 percent of the vote compared to Hill's 47 percent.

Hill received the $500,000 contribution after a federal judge threw out the state's campaign limits.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocked that ruling six days later, and Bullock sued to force Hill to return the money to the Montana Republican Party.
