Cold intruder refuses to leave Missoula home
Authorities say a Missoula man struck an intruder with a baseball bat after the intruder refused to leave because it was cold outside.
The Missoulian reports Richard Mason has been charged with aggravated burglary. Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech released the 30-year-old Mason Monday on his own recognizance.
Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jessica Finley said in charging documents the unidentified resident found a stranger in his home Saturday night.
The resident yelled at the man to leave, but the man cursed and complained about the cold outside.
When the intruder started walking toward the resident, the resident "tapped" the intruder on the head with the bat, then struck him on the leg.
The suspect fled and a K-9 officer later found Mason with a cut to the head.
