A 17-year old Columbia Falls girl passed away on Monday, after a battle with cancer. Taylor Peterson was a student at Columbia Falls High School, and a volleyball player.
Doctors diagnosed her with jaw-bone cancer a year and a half ago. The community rallied around her, and showed up for a benefit in early December. The goal was to send her on a trip to Hawaii as a last wish. The event raised more than $50,000.
She was hospitalized before she was able to take that trip. Now, organizers say the money raised may go to a scholarship fund in her name.
