Dog breeder guilty of manufacturing marijuana
A malamute breeder who was recently convicted of 91 counts of cruelty to animals has pleaded guilty to manufacturing marijuana after the October 2011 raid on his kennel led to the discovery of 336 marijuana plants and more than 1,000 grams of processed marijuana.
The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/SKyPWD ) Mike Chilinski of Jefferson City pleaded guilty Monday during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell.
Under the agreement, prosecutors will drop a charge of possession with intent to distribute and will give Chilinski the opportunity to keep his property if he can come up with $70,000 at least 40 days before he is sentenced on April 11. He faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison.
Chilinski is currently detained. Sentencing in the animal cruelty case has not been scheduled.
