Echo lake residents sound off on destruction
ECHO LAKE, Mont. -

An FWP Commission public hearing will discuss proposed boating rules for Echo Lake. That hearing is set for February 19 at 7:00 pm in the Kalispell Hampton Inn. That hotel is located at 1140 Highway 2 West.

The commission is proposing rule changes after the public submitted three petitions to change the boating rules on the lake. The proposed changes include classifying the Causeway Bay as a no-wake zone year round, and establishing the whole lake as a no wake zone during periods of high water, classified as 5 feet or less from a survey pin placed on the deck of the lake’s Causeway Bridge.

NBC Montana has spoken with several Echo Lake residents who complain that wakes during high water have damaged and eroded their properties.
