MISSOULA, Mont. -

A Saturday morning fire destroyed a house on Hamilton Heights road near Corvallis and injured the owner.

According to the Corvallis Rural Fire Department, the fire was reported at 7:50 a.m. Officials says by 8:10, the house was fully engulfed.

Crews from Corvallis, Hamilton, Pinesdale, Victor, and Stevensville responded with at least 8 engines.

By early afternoon, firefighters were still battling hotspots on the second floor of the home.

The house was declared a total loss, and at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, an excavator was already tearing down the structure.

Witnesses said the fire also destroyed two vehicles parked outside the house.

A friend of the owner said the owner was home alone when the blaze broke out, and he was treated for burns on his back.

Firefighters said they are still investigating the cause.
