Flathead Valley girls tap their way to Kennedy Center
It's a quiet morning at the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish, but if you walk to the back of the building you'll start to hear a lot of tapping. Walk to the back classroom and you've just entered a Feat x Feet practice. But it's not just any practice for Marlow Schultz, Perrey Sobba, and Bridget Unterreiner - the talented trio are rehearsing for a performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
"I didn't know if I should tell anyone because I don't want to seem like I'm bragging," said Unterreiner of the opportunity, "but I'm really excited and it was really kind of overwhelming."
Sobba and Schultz will be dancing in "The Waltz," a character-oriented piece that features the girls in very different roles.
"My character, the ringleader, is kind of keeping them in line and making sure they're doing what they're supposed to be doing," Schultz explained.
Sobba plays "the diva" and said her role is, "Over the top, showy. She has this attitude that she should be the center of attention at all times even though its a group piece."
Bridget is part of "Machine," which she said is all about working as a team - "We're all supposed to be robotic and like a machine and we're supposed to be very not individual."
Feat x Feet director Ashley Wold said each girl was made for her role, "Marlow is the ringleader and she kind of has a very leadership role anways. Perrey... she's the diva, but she's a a very sophisticated, smart diva and she pulls that off perfectly. And Bridget is in the 'Machine' which is just a great, classic piece for her too."
All three are humbled to be performing at an iconic location in our nation's capital and are ready to put Northwest Montana on the map... for tap.
"One of the most beautiful theaters in this country and I just feel so honored to be a part of it," said Sobba.
"We're able to hold up in the tap company that we're able to represent out here in Montana," Wold explained. "A lot of times people don't expect it. And these guys are doing a fabulous job."
Schultz, Sobba, and Bridget make their DC debut on Friday, December 7th at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater. For more on Feat x Feet, visit their Facebook page.
