Florence School Superintendent could face discipline measures

The Florence school Superintendent is facing a two-week suspension, but he'll keep his job.

We have been keeping you up to date on this issue and checked in again, after a meeting Monday night.  John McGee’s future with the school district was at the top of the agenda.

McGee has been under fire for allegedly plagiarizing a column for the school's community newsletter.

Previously, McGee admitted he copied another writer’s work. He apologized but denied the plagiarism was intentional.

In a four-to-one vote, the Florence-Carlton school board rejected a motion to terminate McGee for "acts of plagiarism."  Instead, McGee will be given a formal written reprimand and a two-week suspension without pay.
