A Gallatin Valley program that aims to connect local schools to local farmers did just that Thursday evening.
Gallatin Valley Farm to School runs projects like a garden and orchard at Irving Elementary, and a school greenhouse in Amsterdam.
But they're looking to gain momentum.
On Thursday evening, they discussed new ideas and introduced school food service managers to local farmers.
"We hope that people learn just what Gallatin Valley Farm to School is, and then also take away maybe some connections that they've made and hopefully some of these projects will be able to move forward" said Program Manager Aubree Roth. "Maybe they found a volunteer, maybe they found a resource they were looking for, or they just got some great ideas."
Before the gathering, Farm to School held a workshop to show local teachers ways to incorporate gardening, and plant and nutrition-related lessons into the classroom.
