Johnson trial update 1:58pm

The jury is returning to the courtroom now with the verdict in the Jordan Johnson trial.

Former University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson is charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent, after a woman accused him of raping her at her house in February 2012.

The trial was slated to last 11 days, but Friday marks day 12. District Court Judge Karen Townsend gave the jury its instructions a little after 1pm. The jury will deliberate until a decision is made, that could mean after hours.

The jury heard from prosecutor Suzy Boylan, defense attorney David Paoli and then again from prosecutor Joel Thompson before deliberation started. Both sides making it very clear what they expect of the jury.

Jurors have to decide beyond a reasonable doubt whether there was non-consensual sex and that Johnson knew it was non-consensual.

NBC Montana will update this story throughout the day.
