Construction on Kalispell Regional Medical Center's latest addition is nearing the finish line. NBC Montana got a look at the estimated $42 million facility Thursday morning.
Officials said the hospital sold a bond to finance costs related to the tower, with $5 million alone going towards surgical equipment for eight operating rooms, post-anesthesia care unit, and same-day surgery areas.
As the hospital continues to become a regional destination for care, OR Supervisor Jayne Wangerin said the new tower also has extra space set aside to install four more operating rooms in the future.
"We want to be able to address 'Do we need a hybrid room that we have X-Ray available in it? What types of things do we need.' And we don't know what's coming. We know that we're probably going to continue to grow so we wanted to make sure we had that availability to entice new physicians to come," Wangerin explained.
The hospital hopes to start utilizing the tower for surgeries starting March 25.
