KALISPELL, Mont. -

Kalispell resident Kathy Rose has been chosen to compete in the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang and Gangneung, South Korea. Kathy is a member of the Kalispell Krushers team and her local coach spoke with NBC Montana about Kathy’s commitment as an athlete.

"She will represent us very well…She’s a very dedicated athlete. [I’m] just really proud and hope she goes far," said Krushers coach Ray Mitchell.

Rose was selected after winning the gold at last year’s winter events, and recently trained at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York.  She will compete in the snowshoe events, in the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x100 meter relays.

Dan Hazen of Great Falls will also make the trip to compete in the Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G events. The overall event will bring together more than 3,000 athletes from more than 112 countries.
