Two decades after the events at Ruby Ridge, author Sara Weaver talks to NBC Montana about her new book - "Ruby Ridge to Freedom." The book explains in her own words the events that happened in August, 1992.
Weaver recalls how U.S. Marshals shot and killed her mother and brother, the 11-day siege that followed at her family's home, and the pain and darkness that followed her for 10 years. Now, 20 years later, Weaver said she's found her voice and learned to forgive.
"Forgiveness. It's a choice, not a feeling," said Weaver. "And it's a choice we make simply on what God has done for us and when we make that choice the feelings follow. But we make that choice as many times as it takes. And it's been finding freedom for me in my life."
Sara will appear at a book signing Saturday at the Garden of Read'n book store in Missoula from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
