GRATEFUL NATION MEMORIAL
MISSOULA, Mont. -

Lawmakers in Helena heard a bill Wednesday that would make a Missoula memorial, a state veterans' memorial.

Republican Representative Champ Edmunds from Missoula is proposing that the Grateful Nation Montana statue on the University of Montana campus be identified on state maps as an official Iraq and Afghanistan veterans' memorial.

“It would provide opportunities not only for Montanans to visit the memorial, but also to provide folks from out of state, if they travel through the area, to identify and they may want to visit the memorial,” said Leonard Leibinger of UM Veterans Affairs.
