Lolo man pleads guilty to school shooting threat
A Lolo man accused of threatening a Wyoming school pleaded guilty in Missoula County Justice Court Thursday.
Missoula deputies arrested 19-year-old Erik Wengren late last week on a disorderly conduct charge.
The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office said an officer from the Gillette Police Department contacted Missoula, advising them that Wengren told his cousin and others in Gillette he was going to commit a school shooting.
Wengren told Missoula detectives the threat was a joke.
“On facebook my cousin posted something about a school shooting, saying that you're stupid if you think it will happen at your school,” Wengren told the judge Thursday. “And I said yeah you're right…I said, jokingly, that I'm going to come shoot up your school.”
The Missoula County Attorney's Office asked that sentencing be delayed. They want to evaluate Wengren’s mental health before making a decision.
