Man sent to prison for probation violation
A Billings man who was given a five-year suspended sentence for setting fire to his former girlfriend's car in 2007 has been sentenced to prison for a series of convictions that prosecutors argued violated his parole.
The Billings Gazette reports District Judge Susan Watters sentenced Lionel Scott Ellison to five years in prison with two suspended on Wednesday after finding he had violated the terms of the probationary sentence he received in May 2009.
Ellison has twice reported being kidnapped, but law enforcement officials believe he staged both events. He was convicted of partner or family member assault against his wife in 2010.
Two weeks ago, he was given a two-year deferred sentence after pleading no contest to insurance fraud over a claim filed on his homeowner's insurance.
