Montana State Prison investigating homicide

The following is a news release from the Montana Department of Corrections:
An investigation is under way into the homicide of an inmate at Montana State Prison on Sunday night.
The inmate's body was found about 8:10 p.m. in a cell of a housing unit in the high-security portion of the prison. Two inmates are possible suspects in the death.
The victim is Danny Lee Hartford, 53. He was sentenced to 30 years probation in 1997 on two counts of sexual assault out of Lewis and Clark County. He violated conditions of his probation and a judge ordered him to prison in 2010.
No further information regarding the death is available due to the ongoing criminal investigation.
