SACRAMENTO, Cali. -

A Montana man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of attempting to board an aircraft with a concealed weapon in California.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento said 45-year-old Harold Waller entered the plea Wednesday. He will be sentenced Dec. 19 on the charge, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Waller was charged with five counts after security screeners at Sacramento International Airport said he had four loaded handguns and a knife as he prepared to board a US Airways flight to Alaska in March.

Waller had driven to Sacramento from his home in Circle, Mont. His mother, Helen Waller, previously told The Associated Press her son had been receiving treatment for depression at a Sacramento clinic before he bought a one-way ticket to Alaska.
