National Guard hosts holiday dinner
Soldiers and civilians came together over some turkey and stuffing on Saturday. It was all part of the National Guard’s annual “Christmas at our House” dinner celebration. The event featured about 60 turkeys and more than 45 hams.
Volunteers from around the Valley helped cook up the food. Soldiers acknowledged that the event was an extra-emotional one, after roughly 60 of their comrades began their journey to Afghanistan back in November.
“This is our opportunity to give back to the community,” said Staff Sergeant John Inman. “They support us in our missions that we do locally and abroad as we’re deployed.”
