A federal cleared several Lake County law enforcement officers, including a former police chief, from any wrongdoing after a man sued them for mistaking him for a domestic battery suspect, and breaking into his apartment and arresting him.
Court documents show several Lake County Sheriff's deputies and Polson police officers responded to a domestic dispute in Polson in June of 2009.
A woman told them her boyfriend, Polson resident Joseph Mitchell, had assaulted her.
She gave them permission to enter her apartment and confront Mitchell, but the officers mistakenly entered the wrong apartment, and arrested Polson resident Patrick Haun, thinking he was Mitchell.
Haun filed a lawsuit two years later against the officers. On October 9, a judge granted the officers a summary judgment, clearing them of any wrongdoing.
