Patient pleads not guilty to punching nurse
A 23-year-old Montana State Hospital has pleaded not guilty to punching a nurse in the face, breaking her nose and her eye socket.
Dean Standing appeared before District Judge Ray Dayton in Anaconda on Wednesday to enter his plea to felony aggravated assault.
Standing is charged with punching the nurse and knocking her to the floor on Nov. 10, 2012 when he became upset with staff at the state hospital in Warm Springs for having to take his medications.
On his first refusal that day, his medications were eventually administered by injection. Court records say he refused a second time, tearing apart a phone. Employees called for another injection and prosecutors say Standing punched the nurse in the face.
