NBC Montana chatted with a lot of folks who say they're thrilled Missoula is one of hundreds of cities across the nation that celebrate First Night festivities.
Missoula resident Goob West says he first attended First Night in 2010 and he has joined in the festivities every year since. “It's a good way to hang out, socialize and meet people and have alcohol-free events.”
We talked to a lot of people who say First Night is a fun way to spend time with friends and family.
Missoula resident Tara Messner says she was invited to First Night by her friend who was performing in a ballet and she thought it would be fun to go and experience something different.
“First Night gives families a chance to be together and do some fun stuff together and have quality time,” said Messner.
Event organizers and volunteers say they're proud Missoula's First Night is 19 years strong.
First Night volunteer Matt Anglen says it’s because Missoula is such a community oriented city that First Night has really taken off. “We're really giving people a chance to shine and we're also giving Missoulians the chance to see what their town can create and it's usually pretty awesome.”
