Wolf sighting sparks concern in Polson
POLSON, Mont. -

Tribal wildlife managers say the alleged wolves spotted in the Polson area are likely just a couple dogs. NBC Montana told you earlier this month that a woman reported seeing two wolves just blocks from downtown Polson. Now, we hear wildlife managers have gotten reports of missing dogs fitting the same descriptions.

They’ve also received word of other sightings of dogs that sound similar to the missing ones, a malamute and a husky. NBC Montana caught up with a tribal wildlife manager on Sunday.

“Well, generally, if there are wolves in an area and dogs also, there’s usually some behavioral interactions and quite often, that will result in injuries or even the wolves killing the dogs. We haven’t seen anything along those lines,” said Dale Becker, Wildlife Program Manager with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.

Becker added that the sightings are still under investigation.
