The Winkley Women's Center, a mobile mammography bus operated by Kalispell Regional Medical Center, recently received a $25,000 gift from the Ford Motor Company Fund.
The grant covers a year of operational costs for the bus, which includes gas, insurance, and maintenance for the equipment on board.
Since 2008, the bus has traveled over 130,000 miles to Fort Benton, Malta, and everywhere in-between. They've provided 10,632 mammography procedures to women who do not have insurance or are underinsured.
"KRMC is not going to solve all the problems in our region alone," said Northwest Healthcare Foundation President Tagen Vine. "We need that support from the community working together, collaborating, and partnerships to be able to evolve as healthcare evolves and changes. We all need to work together to find those solutions."
