Anti-GMO rally hits the Flathead
GMO protesters numbered in the hundreds at Depot Park in Kalispell.
There was a strong push at Kalispell's "March for Monsanto Rally" to get genetically modified foods labeled in local food stores. Flathead Valley farmers we spoke to tell us some folks are using genetically modified canola, which can pose a danger to other farms in the area.
"It could have a huge impact on the purity of the plants that we have," said Terrapin Farms' Judy Owsowitz. "It can affect you whether you're an organic farmer, inorganic farmer, any small farmer. It can contaminate your crops and your seeds. We have to be very careful of it in that way."
