KALISPELL, Mont. -

Continued success is what car dealerships are telling NBC Montana about sales over the past few months.  Numbers are up and cars are moving quickly off the lot.

"From last year to this year we're up 20 percent,” said Ben Eisinger, who is the general manager of Eisinger Motors in Kalispell.  He says that new technology and more well built cars are to thank for the increase in sales.

"Sales have been great,” Eisinger said.  “They're up 20 percent year over year, and the big part of that is the manufacturers' desire to make better cars that are more suited for people's needs.  I think the dealers have caught on also, making sure we find the right cars for the right customers."

Even used car sales are up.

We called dealerships from all over the Flathead, and all of them tell us both used and new car sales are selling at record rates.

Mark Weed is the owner of Mark Weed Auto Sales. Weed broke down his numbers for us, and says business is as good as it's ever been.

"The last few years have been really good,” Weed said.  “2012 was our best year in 13 years of business, and this year, year to date, we're up 20 percent over that."

We also spoke with customers looking to buy cars.

While they declined to speak with us on camera, most of them say that a pay raise or promotion is to thank for their ability to purchase a new vehicle, possibly signaling an economic turnaround for an area that's been struggling for some time.

With a few months left in the year, Eisinger says numbers could be even better than the records they've already hit.

"I think this last quarter of the year, we're going see even stronger gains.  We'll see more incentivizing, we'll see more inventory, and just that push for the year end."
