HELENA, Mont. -

A Billings medical professional has received this year's Bette Bohlinger leadership award from the Montana Cancer Control Coalition for her work in cancer prevention.

National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Programs Coordinator Sarah Porter-Osen received the annual award Wednesday.

The organization praised Porter-Osen's work in advocating for breast and cervical cancer screening for low-income women. It also recognized her accomplishments in expanding cancer screening services to Miles City, Hardin, Harlowton and Red Lodge.

Her work also includes the "Ask Me" campaign that encourages people to get screened for colorectal cancer.

The Montana Cancer Control Coalition is comprised of 200 state health advocates and educates Montana residents about cancer prevention in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services.
