The following is a press release from Cascade County Sheriff Bob Edwards:
The deceased person recovered from Black Eagle Dam has been positively identified as Graham Macker of the Kalispell area. Macker is a white male and 26 years of age. An autopsy revealed that the Cause of Death is Drowning.
Graham was listed as a walk-a-way from the Great Falls Pre-Release Center on 11-14-13 and was wanted for escape.
On 11-14-13 at approx. 6:50PM, officers from the Great Falls Police Department encountered Graham in the 1800 Block of River Dr. North. Graham ran from officers on foot and headed towards the Rivers Edge Trail. Deputies from the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene and assisted with the search for Graham.
It was suspected that Graham was hiding along the south side of the Missouri River along the River’s Edge Trail between the box cars and the 15th St N Bridge in an area heavily covered with foliage.
GFPD K-9, Deputies from Cascade County, and a Homeland Security Helicopter were used to try and locate Graham without success.
At the time of the incident, there were no indications that Graham had gone into the river.
Due to the fact that the Great Falls Police Department and the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the attempted apprehension of Graham and he has since been found dead, the State of Montana Department of Criminal Investigation has been requested and has agreed to take over the investigation.
Any press releases from here on out will be completed by DCI.
