BOZEMAN, Mont. -

The following is a news release from the city of Bozeman.

Conditions in Bozeman City limits are extremely dry and as such have created a high fire danger. Due to area wildfires, mutual aid resources are limited. The majority of area fire departments have also put burning restrictions in place.

Pursuant to Bozeman Municipal Code No. 18.04.080, the Bozeman Fire Chief is temporarily suspending all open burning within the Bozeman City Limits, effective August 21, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. Non permit required recreational fires are included in this closure.

Barbeque grills, approved outdoor fireplaces, chimneys, and other contained appliances are still allowed to be used. The Bozeman Fire Department encourages citizens to never leave these devices unattended and to dispose of charcoal ashes in approved metal containers.

This suspension will remain in effect until moisture improves conditions.  Thank you for your patience during this closure.
