BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Bozeman locals raised thousands of dollars for a non-profit dedicated to provided services to mothers and children in need.

Close to 500 runners turned out to honor moms and support the non-profit HAVEN in their annual Mother's Day Run.

Folks with HAVEN tell us that's almost twice as many folks as they saw last year.

HAVEN offers assistance and support to Gallatin Valley families affected by domestic violence.

We caught up with a mom and her two daughters.

"It's just something that we feel passionate about and so, we wanted to show our support and thought it would be really fun on Mother's Day," says runner Amanda Fowler.

Her daughter Caroline agrees.

"I just want to support the people that need help," she says.

Her daughter Julie says she's just looking forward to spending time with her family.

"I think it's really fun because I get to be with them and run the race," says Julie.

It was a 5K run/ walk. The first runner finished in less than 15 minutes.
