Bozeman man sentenced in officer assault case
A 31-year-old Bozeman man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to run over two sheriff's deputies who responded to a domestic dispute in July 2011.
District Judge Mike Salvagni called Kristoffer Carnes' actions despicable and outrageous before sentencing him Monday for two counts of felony assault on a peace officer. He was given credit for 202 days served in jail.
Carnes was convicted in July of trying to run over deputies Dane Vranish and Dave Johnston with a flatbed truck. He said he plans to appeal.
Carnes has felony convictions in Michigan for breaking and entering, assault with a weapon and assaulting a prison employee. He also has assault and partner or family member assault charges pending in Madison County.
