Bozeman sculptor to create drinking fountain for Beall Park
One Bozeman sculptor is preparing to create a fountain for Beall Park.
We went to his studio, Wednesday, to see designs for the new project.
Support Local Artists and Music or SLAM asked Mitch Billis to create the piece.
He says it's an honor and says he's excited to develop something the community can interact with.
Billis adds, as a Bozeman native, he's glad he can leave behind art that will be there long after he is.
It will be a frog, about 54 inches high. The water will come out of a fly in its mouth and from a tadpole at the base of the piece.
There will also be a crown bowl for dogs.
"I've always loved frogs since I was a little kid and they're rarer and rarer and harder and harder to find so, I thought if I did a giant one, people would get to at least see a frog on a regular basis again," says Billis.
The piece will also include mosaic tiles from another local artist and children's work at the base.
Billis says he hopes to have the fountain installed by the end of the summer.
