BOZEMAN, Mont. -

It was back to school for students in the Bozeman school district.

We talked to Superintendent Rob Watson to get the facts on enrollment. He tells us they won't have exact numbers until October but say, right now, they estimate around 6,100 students in kindergarten through 12th grades in the district. That's up more than 100 students from last year.

In kindergarten through fifth grade, Watson says they have around 2,900 students.

The new Meadowlark Elementary, which just opened its doors Wednesday, has 240 students.

Watson tells us they will only use 12 classrooms and the gym this year. The school will be finished in November, but they won't move into the rest of the school until next year.

The superintendent went out to several different schools today and tells NBC Montana the first day back went smoothly.
